Welcome to my web-page. For over twenty-two years, I have enjoyed a rewarding legal career and have no plans to ever retire. There is too much to do in service to others. Hopefully we can visit sometime to discuss your needs for legal or mediation services.
My legal experiences and qualifications have become quite broad and far reaching after over two decades of practice. In late 2000, I resigned my partnership from a large Detroit-based law firm to re-join two of my former partners in their boutique corporate and real estate firm in Grand Rapids. One of those partners has since retired. I counsel individuals and public and private sector business clients on various legal matters, including estate and tax planning, starting businesses, employment, construction, environmental, real estate purchases and sales, litigation and succession planning. I do not take my client’s trust in me lightly, but accept that responsibility as if I, too, were personally wearing their shoes or owned their business and was responsible for its success. I have seen client heartaches when they make bad personal or business decisions; and I definitely know when an attorney is not serving in the client’s best interest or is overworking a litigation case without regard to the client’s financial means. I believe the law should be viewed as a tool for saving money and for bringing practical and amicable solutions to personal and business life. That is the philosophy I bring to my practice and that is why I also became trained by the State of Michigan to mediate legal, business or personal disputes. I am open for business.
Please consider the following questions. What would happen to your assets upon death? Do you want your financial affairs made public through probate court proceedings? Have you planned for the long term care and protection of your children? Have you adequately protected your assets from your creditors or from the creditor of an heir? Did you realize that without careful planning up to forty-five percent of the value of your assets upon death could be paid to the federal government? From where will that cash come? Is there a stockholder or partnership agreement in place for the sale and purchase of your business interests upon death, disability, divorce or retirement? Are you thinking about starting a business, or purchasing or selling other assets? Do you need someone to mediate a legal, business or personal dispute? Feel free to call me if you have these or other legal questions or concerns.
I am also open to serve individuals who might not have access to a qualified or trusted attorney or to those who are genuinely strapped financially. If you are such an individual or know someone who is, please let me know. If I cannot personally help, I have made arrangements with other local attorneys who might also be willing to provide assistance.
Have a great day and thanks for allowing me to briefly introduce myself.
